It’s a new year Robros and Rogals and 2023 will be our biggest one yet! We began our journey in late 2021 with the introduction of a new class of PFP NFT by distributing our beloved unique robot companions. We then spent 2022 bringing the Rovies to life and making deployability and enabling functionality in Decentraland our main focus, establishing ROVI as the first Metaverse Companion Project to exist.
Now we’re excited to continue our development progress to further expand the ROVI ecosystem by enabling a new creator and player economy to emerge along with solidifying the distributed play-and-earn ecosystem model ROVI is pioneering through the utilization of MetaZone technology.
To start things off, we’re pleased to announce the first ROVI accessory build jam contest! What is the build jam about? This is the first opportunity for anyone to create accessories for Rovies. Accessories play a critical part in the ROVI economy, not just because they look cool and add unique personality to the Rovies, but also due to their usefulness in PvE and PvP gameplay.
All accessories are crafted through the Fabricator META, which requires in-game earned assets to operate and produce an accessory. All of the submitted accessories from this build jam contest will become in-game accessories that ROVI operators will be able to craft during their metaverse journey.
We got things started off by building the first 10 accessories when Rovies was first launched, but we know our creativity is nothing in comparison to what can be produced when the community is empowered to contribute and be part of the content generation process.
We’ve seen this philosophy proven with the Decentraland wearable market. At one point the introduction of avatar wearables in DCL was exclusive to the founding organization. Once the floodgates of creativity were opened, a BOOM in the creator economy followed, producing an immense variety of designs that surpassed everyone's expectations.

When Will the Top 5 Be Determined?
The team will deliberate after the closure of the build jam and announce a top 10 on Feb 16th during the ROVI community call. After the call on the 16th, a 24-hour Twitter vote to determine the top 5 most liked submissions will commence for 24 hours. The top 5 most liked submissions after the 24-hour period will receive their Rovi NFT and new Metaverse Companion!
About Rovi
Rovi is a PFP project of 10,101 unique battle bots that are playable in the metaverse running on the Polygon network. Each bot comes from MetaZone that has built a procedurally generated engine to make each bot random and unique. Rovies can battle each other to earn tokens in Decentraland and also play in the Polygon powered RoviMatrix! MetaZone is a platform that has enabled any creator to make their own 10,000 procedurally generated 3D NFT characters right from the platform and all characters will exist on the Polygon network
