Free to play is critical to any play to earn game. Blockchain technology has enabled the ability for anyone with an internet connection to earn actual value by participating as players in closed loop game ecosystems. It’s Rovies mission to bring this opportunity to the metaverse by pioneering a new model that not only is designed to support a player economy, but also a META economy by putting functional game assets and earning potential in the hands of the community hosting the game content needed for the ecosystem to remain operational.

Introducing Rovies Distributed Play to Earn Ecosystem

Earning Potential of a Distributed Play to Earn Game

A distributed throughout the metaverse play to earn ecosystem means there are various ways to participate and earn. This is in stark contrast from traditional play to earn games where only the player has an opportunity to earn.

In the ROVI ecosystem you can earn $GRZ by:

  1. Delegating Rovies to players to complete ROVI challenges in the PvE and PvP METAs.
  2. Delegating a Glitch enemy into a PvE META and earn when a Rovi is defeated in combat
  3. Delegating METAs to land hosts to complete ROVI META challenges with visitors.
  4. Selling game acquired Loot, Accessories, Weapons, Consumables, and Emotes.
  5. When Rovi owners interact with Smart METAs, to upgrade or craft, a portion of the $GRZ payment is distributed to the LAND and META owner.

Players

Players are at the center of the Rovi free-to-play (F2P) play-to-earn (P2E) game. As a player owning a Rovi represents the centerpiece asset in a distributed F2P P2E experience in the metaverse. If you own a Rovi you can play the game to earn the GEARZ ($GRZ) token or you can delegate that asset to a player Operator. Delegation allows the player to earn 60% while 40% will go back to the owner of the Rovi.

Players earn $GRZ tokens by completing challenges in the F2P Rovi METAs that you will find deployed throughout the open metaverse in Decentraland. Challenges will need to be completed at player versus environment (PvE) Arenas and player versus player (PvP) Stadiums hosted by the community itself. When a player competes in PvE or PvP they will spend some Lube, an off-chain token. Lube is topped up every 24 hours allowing players to play for free. Players will compete to be in the top of a daily leaderboard and based on their position in the leaderboard they will earn a multiple on the $GRZ they earned that day. Players will also spend the Lube token at a Supercharger META to recharge their depleted Rovies to continue competing in the PvE Arena and the PvP Stadium. Each day at midnight UTC GEARZ tokens will be distributed to all Operators based on their leaderboard position.

Hosts

A host is anyone that deploys a META to the metaverse. They will earn a share of $GRZ when Host challenges are completed or when a $GRZ transaction occurs on their land. Hosts play a critical role in the distributed play to earn game ecosystem. Since all aspects of the game are distributed to the community a host acts like a node in the ecosystem. Without the nodes the game will not operate so rewarding them with $GRZ is a key component to drive the game forward.

Smart METAs (Revenue Split)

Smart METAs include the Transporter, Reinforcer, Fabricator, Replicator, and Assimilator. Each of these METAs are owned by community members and can be delegated to Landowners to deploy in the metaverse. Owners of Rovies can use these deployed METAs to upgrade their Rovi (Reinforcer), assemble a Rovi Weapon (Assimilator), replicate a Rovi (Replicator), and fabricate a Rovi Accessory (Fabricator) each will enhance their Rovi’s stats to increase its earning power. Each activity will cost $GRZ + XP + Loot. Spent $GRZ will be split with the META owner and the landowner aka the META Hosts. This will encourage META holders to team up with landowners to delegate and deploy these essential components of the game in the metaverse to earn $GRZ much like ROVI holders will delegate to players to earn $GRZ.

$GRZ earning Hosts can leverage their accrued tokens in combination with in-game Loot to upgrade their own Smart METAs, thus making them more attractive to players looking to engage in utilizing their services in-world.

Rovi METAs (Free to Play)

The free-to-play METAs are where Players can earn $GRZ by operating a Rovi and completing challenges at the PvE and PvP METAs. To play, the player will pay Lube to compete to rank high in the leaderboard. Lube is replenished every 24 hours which means players will have a chance to play and earn on a daily basis. The PvE and PvP METAs are also deployed and distributed within the open metaverse of Decentraland as well as the mobile Rovimatrix. Since Lube is a free off-chain token a different set of Challenges will exist for the owners of these free-to-play METAs where completing them the META owners and landowners will be rewarded with $GRZ.

Leaderboard Positioning Determines Token Reward Distribution

DAO/Treasury

To participate in Minting Events to acquire any new asset that yields $GRZ token such as Rovies, METAs, and Glitches, participants must hold the predesignated tokens and or NFTs to be whitelisted. When the event occurs any whitelisted individual may purchase directly from the Treasury/DAO. Glitches serve as another way to earn $GRZ token by allowing the community to also own the enemies in the PvE arena. The Treasury will serve to develop, balance, and enhance the game design and gameplay.

$GRZ Token

Marketplace

Players can acquire additional NFT items to further enjoy their Rovi companions or to help be a more formidable opponent in PvE and PvP ultimately increasing their earning potential. These items, crafted from Smart METAs, can be acquired with $GRZ by purchasing from other community members in the marketplace or via ETH in the secondary market.

In Conclusion

This new Distributed P2E ecosystem is only just getting started. As described above, in order for it to thrive, there needs to be an active community willing to support and host it just to get it off the ground. By participating in the Rovi economy you are responsible for pioneering this new method of deploying sustainable game ecosystems in the open metaverse. Up until now there has not been a successful attempt at doing so mostly due to the lack of aligned incentives between game developers and the community supporting it.

Rovi METAs are actively being distributed now to core community members called Rovi Oracles. Check out this post outlining qualifications to becoming an Oracle and how to receive allocation of Rovi METAs for FREE!

If you’re interested in either becoming a Rovi Operator or Delegator, acquiring a Rovi on the open market is your best bet. Sales of New Rovies and Glitches won’t occur until full gameplay is released and functional in Decentraland.

About Rovi

Rovi is a PFP project of 10,101 unique battle bots that are playable in the metaverse running on the Polygon network. Each bot comes from MetaZone that has built a procedurally generated engine to make each bot random and unique. Rovies can battle each other to earn tokens in Decentraland and also play in the Polygon powered RoviMatrix! MetaZone is a platform that has enabled any creator to make their own 10,000 procedurally generated 3D NFT characters right from the platform and all characters will exist on the Polygon network
